Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of staff accountants and clerical personnel, maintaining the accuracy of our general ledger, and ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent leadership skills to streamline our financial workflows and support accurate business reporting.
CoreResponsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train staff accountants and clerical team members; delegate tasks, review workloads, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Financial Reporting & Closing: Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure all financial statements and management reports are accurate and delivered on schedule.
- Transactional Oversight: Review and approve general ledger entries, cash disbursements, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations to ensure ledger accuracy.
- Internal Controls: Establish, update, and enforce robust internal accounting policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and mitigate operational risks.
- Audit & Tax Support: Assist external auditors during annual reviews by preparing necessary schedules and documentation; assist management with tax filing preparations and compliance reporting.
- Budgeting & Analysis: Partner with senior management to assist in budget formulation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulatory frameworks.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros) and hands‑on experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (such as Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or Workday).
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail and an aptitude for resolving data discrepancies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex financial insights to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
- Experience in our specific industry (e.g., manufacturing, tech, retail).
