Finance Manager - Student Activity Funds

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position performs professional accounting and operational finance coordination work related to Student Activity Funds, Athletic Funds, and school-based financial operations. Responsibilities include oversight and support of school financial activities, coordination with division departments and school administration, development and communication of operational guidance and training, and support of financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to promote consistent financial practices and effective financial management across schools and centers.
Work is performed under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates and monitors school-based financial activities related to Student Activity Funds, Athletic Funds, and school-based operating accounts.
- Develops, revises, communicates, and supports implementation of procedures, manuals, training materials, and operational guidance related to school-based funds and financial operations.
- Provides training, guidance, and operational support to school bookkeepers, administrators, and school staff regarding school-based financial procedures, fund usage, compliance requirements, and operational practices.
- Coordinates with the departments of Budget, Purchasing, Payroll, Student Activities, and School Leadership, as well as school administrators regarding school-based financial operations, procedures, and reporting practices.
- Monitors school-based financial activities to promote consistent application of financial procedures, internal controls, operational practices, and School Board policies.
- Supports operational alignment and coordination related to payroll-related charges, reimbursements, and school-based financial transactions.
- Monitors Student Activity Funds, Athletic Funds, and school-based operating accounts for compliance, consistency, financial visibility, and alignment with division procedures and reporting requirements.
- Facilitates resolution of school-based financial issues requiring analysis, interpretation of procedures, and coordination among departments.
- Evaluates school-based financial processes and recommends improvements to promote operational efficiency, consistency, and effective internal controls.
- Collaborates with division departments and school administrators to support the implementation of school-based financial procedures and process improvements.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains financial reports, reconciliations, journal entries, audit schedules, and related financial documentation.
- Supports monitoring and coordination of financial reporting activity related to school-based funds included within district financial reporting and audit scope.
- Coordinates operational support functions related to Accounting Technician responsibilities associated with school-based financial operations.
- Analyzes school-based financial activity, expenditures, operational trends, and related financial information to support operational consistency and financial visibility.
- Coordinates responses and provides support related to school-based financial questions, concerns, and operational issues.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
