Position Summary

As Director of Business Control, you will lead a high‑impact finance function that shapes performance and strategic direction for Volvo Penta North America. You will own the financial performance narrative, translating results into clear insights and forward‑looking analysis that drives leadership decisions. With accountability for the full financial management cycle, you will ensure accurate, timely reporting while identifying risks, challenging assumptions, and influencing outcomes across the business.

Reporting to the CFO and based in Chesapeake, Virginia, you will partner closely with senior leaders and build a strong Business Control function aligned with Volvo Group standards and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate financial performance and outlook with clarity and credibility at executive levels
  • Translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for the VPNA leadership team
  • Provide forward‑looking analysis that drives strategic decision‑making
  • Analyze revenue, margin, operating expenses, and working capital to identify risks and opportunities
  • Challenge assumptions and influence actions to improve financial and operational performance
  • Own and lead end‑to‑end financial management cycle
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, long‑range planning, and monthly closing processes
  • Prepare management reporting, estimates, and closing analysis
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of financial reporting and estimates
  • Act as a strategic business partner
  • Partner closely with sales, operations, and functional leaders across the organization
  • Support pricing strategies and growth initiatives with data‑driven insights
  • Provide insight as a member of the VPNA Finance management team with energy and a growth mindset
  • Lead and develop the Business Control function
  • Build and lead a high‑performing function, fostering strong analytical capabilities and business acumen
  • Establish clear priorities, enhance tools, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes
  • Work closely with global counterparts to ensure efficiency, alignment and coordination
  • Maintain adherence to Volvo Group financial policies and procedures, reporting standards, and internal controls
Preferred Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Business Control, FP&A, or similar roles
  • Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience
