The Quality Control Technician manually indexes documents to the correct level as established per facility policy, minimizes duplicate records and overlap entries, verifies data integrity, and reviews the electronic document management system and the records contained within it for the appropriate image quality and indexing.

- Inserted into an existing document
- Deleted
- Correct patient name and account number
- Proper document type
- Image quality (readable, orientation, multiple sides, etc.)
- Rearrange out of order images within the electronic document
- Relocate electronic images that are incorrectly filed in another department
- Relocate electronic documents that are incorrectly filed in an encounter
- Replace electronic images and documents that have unacceptable image quality or have been updated
- Modify the document type or misfiled electronic documents
- Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center
- Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
- Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties
- Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments
- Work as a team to continuously improve work quality
- Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work schedules when it is necessary to ensure patient care

Minimum Required
Education:
High school diploma
Preferred Education:
Associates Degree in Health Information Technology
Experience:
3+ years in a Health Information Department in an acute care setting
Qualified candidates will have extensive working knowledge of medical terminology and medical record content and format for inpatients and outpatients. Preferred candidates will hold a current RHIT certification.
