Summary
A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advanced Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Responsible for rooming patients and preparing them for examination
- Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR
- Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history
- Preps procedure room for minor procedures and assists with those procedures as needed
- Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type
- Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily
- Assists physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations
- Draws blood, performs EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within clinic
- Manages Physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imaging, labs, scheduling surgeries, or referral to specialist. Confirms all orders are completed and that results have been returned
- Obtains Prior Authorizations as needed
- Checks in patients, registers patients, verifies insurance, scans documents in patient charts, answers phones, returns phone calls, and schedules appointments
- Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Medical Assistant Certification. American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position.
