Pay or shift range: $40 USD to $52 USD per hour.
The estimated salary range is provided in accordance with Virginia Pay Transparency requirements. Final salary offers are calculated based on job-related factors, including education, experience, location, shift, skills, specialties, and/or other relevant qualifications or criteria.
DescriptionThe Cardiac Catheterization Technologist II is responsible for delivering high quality patient care through efficient, knowledgeable, and safe performance in assisting physicians with Cardiac Catheterization and other procedures such as electrophysiology and vascular interventions. The position requires proficiency in percutaneous diagnostic and interventional procedures and functioning as a scrub assistant, monitor, and circulator.
Responsibilities- Assist the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any cardiac catheterization, invasive diagnostic or interventional procedure.
- Observe and attend to the needs of each patient while in the care of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Accurately record, note, and file procedural information as necessary.
- Provide explanation and instruction to any medical personnel observing a procedure to maintain sterility, patient safety, and personnel safety.
- Assist the physician during any emergency resuscitation procedure.
- Check the function of and prepare equipment for any necessary patient procedures; complete checklists.
- Assist the director in maintaining proper stock of supplies by reporting low levels or defective materials.
- Prepare the patient for procedure and provide pre‑cath teaching as needed.
- Provide post‑cath care including post‑cath education and accompanying the patient back to their room.
- Prepare instrument tables: check all equipment; check fluids, medication dosage, concentration, and expiration dates; and ensure instruments are the proper size.
- Process charges.
- Maintain and distribute patient digital records within HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain active ACLS and BLS certification.
- Provide copies of all licenses, registries, and certifications to the Cardiovascular Clinical Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the cardiac invasive lab.
- Maintain established department policies, procedures, and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control.
- Accurately complete patient procedure documentation, notes, and files accordingly.
- Check equipment for safe use prior to any patient procedure.
- Assist team in maintaining proper supply stock and inform technical leads or clinical supervisor of low or out‑of‑date stock.
- May be requested to conduct in‑services and meetings.
- Attend required hospital‑wide orientations, meetings, and in‑services.
- Be available to take monthly after‑hours, weekend, and/or holiday call as required by the department.
- Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
- Accept assignment as a task nurse within the service line if needed.
- Exemplify excellent customer relations toward patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers, showing courtesy, compassion, and respect in accordance with the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting a positive work and customer environment.
Minimum Required
Education:
Associates degree or higher, completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program toward obtaining a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry.
Experience: 2+ years Cath Lab experience is required. Employee should be competent in the position within 90 days of employment.
Licenses &
Certifications:
Applicant must retain a registry such as RCIS, RCVT, RCES, or be registry eligible. ACLS and BLS certification required.
