- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in executing individualized treatment plans designed to enhance patients' mobility, strength, and functionality.
- Facilitate therapeutic exercise sessions, guiding patients through stretching and strengthening activities, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols.
- Monitor and document patient progress, noting improvements in range of motion and overall functional capability, and collaborate with the therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Administer physical therapy modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of the licensed Physical Therapist.
- Prepare treatment areas, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are organized and readily accessible for therapy sessions.
- Educate patients about appropriate body mechanics and home exercise programs to support recovery post‑treatment.
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to motivate patients during rehabilitation.
- Engage with the interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech‑Language Pathologists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Maintain compliance with ethical and professional standards, safeguarding patient confidentiality throughout all interactions.
Patient Population / Client Focus:
The PTA will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries, chronic conditions, sports rehabilitation, elderly, and pediatric cases requiring specialized therapeutic approaches.
- Completion of an accredited Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting.
- A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Solid foundation in anatomy and physiology, including knowledge of therapeutic techniques.
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with patients and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate, patient‑centric approach prioritizing rehabilitation goals.
- Strong organizational skills for effective documentation and time management.
- Experience in a rehabilitation or hospital setting.
