Job Duties

Working under the direction of the HR Analyst II and HR Director, the Human Resource Assistant / AOS III assists the HR department with administrative support and coordination of files and records. Primary duties include maintenance, tracking and retention of personnel files. The HR Assistant ensure files are up-to-date and uses checklists to ensure quality and compliance. The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other applications and information systems to help manager personnel records.

Developmental and secondary duties include providing administrative support to other HR functions as directed by the HR Analyst II and/or HR Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and electronically, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multiple tasks with competing priorities and stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively on matters such as advertisements, screenings, scheduling interviews, pre-employment processes, hiring dates, starting salaries, deadlines, conditions of employment using succinct documentation.
  • Ability to work in conjunction with others to negotiate procedural functions, ensuring adherence to established guidelines/regulations and policies.
  • Ability to perform fingerprint activities and to conduct oral alcohol/drug screenings.
  • Ability to sort, file, organize and archive files and documents.
Additional Considerations
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and/or procedures/guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office 365

Advanced coursework (or certification/degree) in Human Resources or related field.

Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Human Resource Management Policies.
