The Backoffice Developer is responsible for developing integrations, custom programs, and reports using tools/systems such as AS/400 RPG, Talend, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Python, Java, PL/SQL, Workday Studio, EIBs.
This role works closely and collaborates with project managers, technology and support teams, business, as well as external stakeholders to analyze business requirements and produce deliverables related to their capability POD during internal implementations and roll outs.
The Backoffice Developer needs to have knowledge of Finance and HCM business processes and will be accountable for defining the technical solutions to meet business objectives and desired outcomes. This role must be able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders both within and outside of the IT department.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and support Finance or HCM related solutions using technologies such as: AS/400 RPG, Talend, Oracle integration cloud (OIC), Python, Java, PL/SQL, Workday Studio, EIBs.
- Perform analysis and programming tasks following best practices and procedures.
- Optimize technical designs for optimal performance, reduced cost, and security standards.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure standards are maintained.
- Maintain documentation on developments and help support teams’ knowledge on the developments built.
- Perform Project Management, System Analysis, and Programming functions when required.
- Publish articles describing both the enterprise’s activities and assessments of systems technology.
- Perform at or above the enterprise’s Information Systems performance standard.
- Fulfill departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel absence.
Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or commensurate experience (7+ years) in IT development roles.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, deploying, and supporting Finance or HCM related solutions on AS/400 RPG, Talend, Oracle integration cloud (OIC), Java, Python, PL/SQL, Workday Studio or EIBs.
- 3+ years’ experience in writing integrations from various sources/destinations like databases, files, message queues, APIs.
- Knowledge of Finance and HCM business processes and corresponding ERP development experience.
- Senior skills with databases (Oracle, DB2 and MSSQL).
- Familiarity with Cloud platforms and SAAS application architectures.
- Experience with scripting and enterprise data formats (JSON, XML).
- Experience in other integration tools like Informatica (a plus).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Team and business leadership experience.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working on a team.

- Experience in traditional waterfall methodology to Agile methodologies
- Experience with Dev Ops practices such as CI/CD, version control, and testing
- Managing agile meetings
- Proven experience defining, building, and maturing API layers into legacy environments.
- Familiarity with IT and IT service management concepts (ITIL)
- Critical incident management and response experience
- Experience creating, maintaining, and optimizing Standard Operating Procedures
