We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Technician to support our Navy customer in the Norfolk, VA area. In this role, you will support various shipboard networking efforts for devices providing fleet connectivity ashore. This position will also provide Networking SME tasks for the network at our Chesapeake, VA location.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide expert support for all router and switch sustainment, upgrades, installations, modifications, and standard process reviews. This includes perimeter, edge, and distribution routers and firewalls as well as layer 2 and 3 managed and stackable modular switches
- During design changes or new device introduction, review provided documentation and configurations, suggesting changes needed to ensure successful deployment to shipboard environments
- Facilitate engagement with NMCI and/or DISA to address circuit interruptions or outages, and provide advice and support to our Chesapeake, VA network support team to restore service
- Troubleshoot, configure and help resolve network issues in the fleet
- Support our Network Operations Center (NOC) team for issues with networking schema and help manage fleet IP assignment
- Must possess current IAT III security certification in accordance with IAWF DoD 8570.01M.
- Must have a Cisco certification (CCNA or higher) IAWF DoD 8570.01M.
- Must have 7 or more years’ experience supporting some/all the following:
- Cisco networking equipment support
- IP schema configuration/modification
- IOS configuration
- Firewall inspection/configuration
- Network topology
- Route tracing.
- Must have experience supporting Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), VLANs, port connectivity, and router/switch firmware updates and testing.
- Familiarity with laptop imaging, Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, and command line tools for diagnosing network connectivity.
- Proficient in installation and troubleshooting of CAT5 and fiber optic cabling systems
- Must be able to travel if required in support of mission objectives.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance
