Key Customer Support Specialist - Marine Commercial

We are seeking a senior member of the Product Support team dedicated to supporting marine commercial products at Volvo Penta North America.
What you will doThe Product & Customer Support Department for Volvo Penta North America headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia is responsible for technical support, warranty administration and customer relations for gasoline and diesel engine products. This role supports industrial OEMs, distributors, dealers, and internal personnel, providing advanced technical assistance and leading improvement initiatives.
Core Responsibilities- Respond to requests for information and provide advanced technical assistance via phone, eService, or on‑site to support customer satisfaction and growth.
- Act as liaison between industrial OEMs, distributors, and key dealers and Product and Manufacturing Engineering, identifying quality issues and providing data to resolve them.
- Advise on Volvo Penta warranty policy and procedures, assist with warranty claims requiring pre‑authorization.
- Assist with creation and implementation of Service and OEM bulletins and campaigns, promoting the use of Volvo Penta Partner Network and Argus case management.
- Provide specialized training to Industrial OEMs, distributors, key dealers, internal Volvo Penta personnel, and new hires.
This position will require some travel (25%) both domestically and internationally.
Who are you?- Subject‑matter‑expert level knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of industrial diesel power products, including comprehensive knowledge of industrial engines and control systems.
- Experience and certifications in service and support of alternative powertrain technologies (electrification, hybrid, alternate fuels, connectivity, remote diagnostics).
- In‑depth understanding of industrial trade practices and activities from direct experience or extensive dealer interaction.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple objectives, and mentor others.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and familiarity with database programs.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of employees, leaders, customers, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
- English proficiency. Bilingual in English plus a second language is a plus.
- An Associate’s degree or Certificate in Diesel or Industrial Mechanics, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial engine OEM, distributor, or dealer technical experience.
- Strong mechanical expertise in troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and installation of industrial products.
- Experience with Volvo Penta products is preferred.
- Standing, walking, sitting.
- Lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sustain long or irregular work hours occasionally.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and do not require sponsorship for employment visa status.
Base pay range: $83,500 – $103,100 annually, plus applicable bonus eligibility. Salary determined by geographic location, knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
