Manager, IT Application Development - DC Systems

** Position Summary*
* The Manager, IT Application Development, is responsible for the planning, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise store technology solutions across Family Dollar's retail footprint. This role leads internal team members and external development partners to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective applications that support critical store operations.

The position serves as a central intake and delivery point for store systems initiatives, managing demand, priorities, estimates, vendor performance, and execution. The Manager partners closely with Information Technology, all other Support Center resources as needed and third-party vendors to ensure successful delivery, deployment, and continuous improvement of store systems at scale.

** Key Responsibilities*
* + Own intake, prioritization, and delivery of application development initiatives from requirements through deployment

+ Lead and coordinate internal staff, consultants, systems integrators, and hardware/software vendors

+ Provide oversight and technical direction for application development, integrations, and deployments

+ Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while identifying risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies

+ Oversee store technology deployments to ensure minimal operational impact

+ Manage budgets, forecasts, vendor contracts, and change orders

+ Hold vendors accountable to delivery commitments, SLAs, and financial controls

+ Drive process improvement, delivery quality, and operational stability

+ Develop team members through coaching, performance management, and resource planning

+ Travel:  25% for project-related events, conferences, and on-site meetings when required

+ Travel may be more or less at times based on project needs

** Minimum Qualifications*
* _Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant IT experience_

_OR 10+ years of equivalent progressive experience_

_-   Experience managing internal teams and external development vendors_

_-  Experience working with systems integrators, software vendors, and hardware providers_

_-  Strong project and delivery management skills across complex initiatives_

_
- Experience with supply chain and automation hardware and services procurement, including contract negotiation_

_-  Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and vendor financial accountability_

_-  Strong communication and stakeholder management skills_

** Preferred Technical Background*
* + Familiarity with supply chain, transportation, and inventory  
** systems
* * such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Labor Management Systems (LMS), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), mobile user computers (RF)

+ Working knowledge of:

+ Integration layer applications - App Worx, Sterling EDI, SOA

+ Low level control systems for automation and conveyance

+ Data feeds and ETL processes

+ Experience supporting business critical, highly integrated systems

+ Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery models and SDLC best practices

+ General understanding of warehouse operations, transportation solutions, and best practices for managing large inventory volumes
