Systems Administrator - Azure & Windows Operations SupportLocation: Chesapeake, VA (On-Site)
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to support the operations, maintenance, and cybersecurity compliance of a secure Azure on-premises environment. This role is responsible for maintaining Windows-based infrastructure, troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing system updates, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security standards.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting enterprise Windows environments, working with virtualization technologies, and maintaining highly secure systems in a mission-critical environment.
What You'll Do Operations & Maintenance- Administer and support Windows-based IT infrastructure and services.
- Perform routine operations and maintenance activities, including system updates, security patching, hardware/software upgrades, and issue resolution.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Execute advanced troubleshooting, service recovery, failover, and backup restoration activities.
- Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure issues across computing, networking, and system services.
- Analyze recurring incidents and conduct root cause analysis to prevent future disruptions.
- Manage account configurations, service settings, and platform performance tuning.
- Conduct Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans and assess systems against applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Remediate identified vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for unresolved findings.
- Install security patches, updates, and service packs to maintain cybersecurity compliance.
- Support ongoing security posture improvements and audit readiness efforts.
- Create and submit change requests following established processes.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, procedures, and support records.
- Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and failover planning.
- Provide written and verbal project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and support activities within approved ticketing systems.
- 3-5 years of overall IT experience.
- 2+ years of experience supporting and administering Windows-based IT systems.
- Experience with Power Shell scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience supporting virtualization platforms (Microsoft Hyper-V preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft administration tools such as:
- Windows Admin Center (WAC)
- Azure Arc
- Microsoft Azure management tools
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Night Shift Systems Administrator provides critical after-hours support for users across multiple geographic regions and time zones.
Responsibilities include:
