This position will provide a full range of custodial/housekeeping services for college facilities, including but not limited to trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, black/white‑board cleaning, etc. It also includes room set‑up/take‑down assistance and light bulb replacement as assigned. The custodian must maintain good attendance and be prepared to work during inclement weather, including assisting with snow removal from entries and walkways and applying snow‑melt when required.
The role is essential and must be able to report to work for college closures due to weather or emergent conditions. Tasks further include assisting with the set up and take down of special events, complying with laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste, and being able to climb a six‑foot ladder and lift up to 50 lbs unaided.
- Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping services, and sanitizing techniques.
- Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Skills in using housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers, and scrubbing machine.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation, chemical use, and trash/recycling.
