About Your Role

As a Vice President, Import Compliance at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll lead the company’s global trade compliance strategy, ensuring adherence to international import regulations while advancing efficiency, cost competitiveness, and ethical sourcing standards. You will provide executive-level guidance on trade policy shifts, tariff implications, and regulatory risk, while building scalable governance structures that safeguard the enterprise and enable responsible global expansion.

Strategic

Leadership & Governance
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global import compliance strategy aligned with business growth objectives and evolving trade environments
  • Provide executive-level guidance to senior leadership on trade policy changes, tariff exposure, geopolitical risks, and regulatory developments
  • Establish and enforce company-wide import compliance standards, internal controls, policies, and training programs
  • Build a proactive compliance framework that balances risk mitigation with operational efficiency
Customs Compliance & Regulatory Execution
  • Lead the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification process, ensuring audit readiness and full compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade laws
  • Oversee customs broker relationships, including contract negotiations, performance management, and process enhancements
  • Drive duty engineering initiatives, cost avoidance modeling, and strategic tariff optimization to support margin improvement
  • Monitor and manage compliance with all applicable trade laws and regulatory requirements
  • Lead trade risk management and international trade governance processes
Supply Chain Due Diligence & Ethical Trade
  • Oversee comprehensive supply chain mapping and traceability programs to ensure transparency and regulatory compliance
  • Partner with ESG, sourcing, logistics, and legal teams to enforce ethical sourcing standards and forced labor prevention frameworks
  • Lead corrective action strategies and vendor compliance escalations
  • Strengthen global compliance programs to align with evolving forced labor regulations and international trade expectations
CTPAT & Security Program Leadership
  • Serve as executive sponsor of the company’s CTPAT program, ensuring continued Tier III status
  • Lead supply chain security audits, validations, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and enhance trade security controls to protect the integrity of the global supply chain
Operational Optimization & Team Leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, logistics, finance, legal, and executive leadership to align compliance strategy with enterprise objectives
  • Lead global compliance analytics, reporting, forecasting, and benchmarking to drive efficiency, risk mitigation, and cost savings
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing import compliance team with scalable governance structures
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
Your Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License required
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, customs operations, international logistics, or related disciplines
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, CTPAT requirements, forced labor regulations, and global compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing global customs teams in a complex retail or high-volume import environment
  • Proven experience influencing senior leadership and driving enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Experience working directly with external regulators and government agencies
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
