General Scope

The Manufacturing Engineer’s responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new products and processes, as well as ensuring cost‑efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards. An outstanding Manufacturing Engineer should develop and optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and quality.

Position Responsibilities
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to better understand future manufacturing requirements.
  • Plan and develop detailed layouts for workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Research and develop new processes, equipment, and products.
  • Develop manufacturing methods to produce products efficiently.
  • Establish routings for new products and maintain existing routings according to approved operational techniques.
  • Lead and/or participate in the review process on products with manufacturing cost overruns, including bill of material, availability, tooling/fixturing, and machine capability/capacity.
  • Review routings, inspection procedures, bills of material, packaging, and prints for consistency, compliance with current manufacturing practices, and possible errors.
  • Design and recommend layouts and product flows in the production shops.
  • Review and calculate labor, material, and other production costs, and review schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision‑making.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations.
  • Own projects, including initiation, pre‑project planning, and project engineering aligned with corporate strategies.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for manufacturing methods.
  • Assist in coordinating equipment maintenance and repair services, ensuring manufacturer procedures and instructions are followed to keep production equipment operational.
  • Conduct engineering assignments to develop new methods, tooling, and machine concepts, cost estimates, and resolve engineering problems involved in manufacturing components, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering required. Two or more years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering preferred. Comprehensive experience may be accepted for less formal education.

Skills
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs and related software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High level of technical expertise.
  • Strong analytical thinking.
