We are seeking a high-energy, self-starting Field Service Technician to support Hunt Valve Company
, a Fairbanks Morse Defense company
, supporting critical U.S. Navy operations at the Newport News Shipyard.
This is a FULL-TIME DIRECT HIRE POSITION — NOT CONTRACT

About the RoleYou will maintain electro-mechanical actuator systems aboard U.S. Navy vessels, including Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier programs.
These Hunt Valve actuators are critical shipboard systems used in the operation of:
- Shipboard mechanical and control systems
- Other mission-critical electro-mechanical applications aboard naval vessels
This is hands‑on, precision technical work in a highly regulated, mission-critical naval environment

- Build expertise in advanced electro‑mechanical actuator technology
- Rotating shifts:
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Sunday work paid at double time

This is a physically demanding shipboard/shipyard environment requiring the ability to:
- Walk long distances across shipyard and vessel spaces
- Climb ladders, gangways, and vertical ship access points
- Work in confined, elevated, and industrial spaces aboard ships
- Carry tools, parts, and test equipment throughout the vessel
- Work at heights using fall protection systems
- Stand and work for extended periods
A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional presence are required for success.
Key Responsibilities- Service electromechanical actuator systems on naval platforms
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical system issues
- Perform operational testing and system validation
- Use hand tools and calibrated test equipment
- Read and interpret:
- Mechanical drawings
- Technical manuals
- Build, repair, and test wiring harnesses
- Document all work using laptop-based reporting systems
- Communicate technical findings with engineers and U.S. Navy personnel
- Maintain strict safety, quality, and procedural compliance
- High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
- Strong electro‑mechanical troubleshooting experience REQUIRED
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Experience with electrical test equipment
- Basic computer proficiency (laptop reporting, Microsoft Office)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Hands‑on, mechanically and electrically skilled
- Comfortable in physically demanding environments
- Strong communicator with a professional demeanor
- Safety‑minded and detail‑oriented
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Looking for a long‑term technical career path, not just a job
- U.S. Citizenship required (NOFORN position)
- Must meet all security and access requirements for naval shipboard work
- Strong attendance and accountability required
