CNC Programmer
American GFM Corporation, a specialized machine tool manufacturer located in Chesapeake, VA, is seeking to hire a CNC Programmer.
Duties- Analyze drawings, blueprints, plans, materials, specifications and design data for machining parts.
- Program mills and lathes by entering detailed written instructions to the machine operators, including zero and reference points, tool selection and setting data, offsets; calculating requirements, creating part geometry, machine speeds and feed rates, proving part programs.
- Maintain specifications and increase efficiency by troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming/reposting.

Competencies- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical communication skills regarding designs and drawings.
- Proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting manual and CNC machines.
- Mathematical (geometry and trigonometry), mechanical and technical skills.
- Understanding of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, and the quality control process.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three plus years’ experience as a CNC Programmer programming with 2D/3D CAD/CAM software, experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls and Mastercam a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Working knowledge of the metric and imperial system.
- Working knowledge of measuring instruments including calipers & micrometers. Quality control experience helpful.
- Intermediate to advanced shop math including geometry and trigonometry.
- Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment.
- Knowledge of fabricating and machining weldments.
