Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Ignite Digital is seeking an experienced Engineer/Scientist II to provide engineering, systems support, and software development expertise for a US Navy software maintenance initiative in the Norfolk, VA area. This role supports mission‑critical Navy and joint operational readiness activities, applying advanced engineering and analytical skills to help modernize, develop, sustain, and test complex defense systems.
Key Responsibilities- Support software development, sustainment, and modernization activities across project efforts
- Conduct systems/equipment support, troubleshooting, and lifecycle sustainment activities
- Perform test & evaluation support including documentation, data analysis, and reporting
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and refine technical solutions
- Apply engineering principles to model, assess, and improve mission and maintenance workflows
- Support government customer objectives through disciplined engineering, testing, and project execution
- Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems, or Computer Science. - Certification requirement:
Candidates with software or computer‑focused degrees must be actively working toward one of the following within 18 months of assuming duties:
Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM), Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP), or with COR approval one vendor/platform‑specific certification such as MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA, SCP, RHCP, CCNP, CCDP, OCP, Certified SAFe/Agile Software Engineer, Certified SAFe Dev Ops Practitioner, Certified SAFe Architect, AWS Foundational/Associate/Professional certifications. - Three (3) years of experience in software development and maintenance, including systems/equipment support and test & evaluation support.
- One (1) year of technical experience supporting a software development and maintenance project/program (may overlap with above).
- Experience with DoW C4
ISR, maintenance, logistics, or business systems strongly preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered with COR approval. - Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
- Strong analytical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and communication skills.
