Position Summary:
Avail Staffing is seeking skilled Inside Machinists with strong experience in fabricating, maintaining, and repairing machinery and componentsper blueprints and specifications. Must be capable of setting up and operatingvarious machine tools, working independently, and ensuring quality and precision in all tasks. This position will be in a shipyard setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpretblueprints, sketches, manuals, and specifications to determine machiningrequirements.
- Set upand operate machine tools including lathes, milling machines, drillpresses, grinders, jig borers, and boring machines.
- Performmachining operations, verify dimensions and tolerances, and adjustmachines as needed.
- Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, depth mics, and otherprecision tools.
- Selectand secure fixtures, tools, attachments, and standard materials formachining.
- Conductassembly of machined parts and test operation to ensure functionality.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor maintenance.
- Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to resolve technical issues.
- Maintaina clean, safe work environment and report safety concerns immediately.
- Completecomprehensive Condition Found Reports (CFRs).
- Performthreading operations and ensure accurate gauging.
- Usehand and power tools to complete assigned tasks.
- Work independently or as part of a team on various fabrication projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum5 years of experience operating manual or CNC lathes/milling machines.
- Strong understanding of shop math, mechanics, and material machinability.
- Abilityto read blueprints, technical drawings, and trade documents.
- Skilledin setup, operation, and inspection of machining tools.
- Proficient with precision measurement instruments and inspection techniques.
- Experience with both small and large steel assembly and heavy fabrication.
- Abilityto write detailed condition reports and perform minimal CNC program edits.
- Reliable,self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Mustsupply own tools and maintain regular, dependable attendance.
