Full‑Time Hospice Registered Nurse (Southside Community)
This office is located in Newport News, VA and provides service to the cities in the Tidewater area that includes Norfolk, Suffolk, Va Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and surrounding areas.
Job SummaryThe Hospice Registered Nurse plans, organizes and directs hospice care services and is experienced in nursing, with emphasis on community health education. The professional nurse builds from resources of the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individuals and families within their homes and communities.
Qualifications- Licensed Registered Nurse with a current valid license to practice in Virginia.
- Minimum of 2 years of hospice experience (OASIS experience preferred).
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Strong computer skills required; familiarity with Netsmart preferred.
- Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem‑solving skills, basic math skills.
- Complete initial and comprehensive assessment of patient and family to determine hospice needs.
- Regularly re‑evaluate patient and family/caregiver needs.
- Develop a plan of care establishing goals, based on nursing diagnosis and incorporating palliative nursing actions in concert with the interdisciplinary group.
- Participate in on‑call duties as defined by the on‑call policy.
- Attend death visits.
- Perform chart reviews and prepare interdisciplinary meeting notes.

- Nursing: 1 year (required).
- Hospice: 2 years (required).
- BLS CPR Certification (required).
- Registered Nurse (RN) (required).
Fee for Service (FFS) or PRN.
PayFrom $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
