Job Description
Plasma collection center located in Chesapeake, VA. You will support plasma center operations as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), reporting to the Plasma Center Manager.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion and medical history interview.
- Conduct physical examinations and blood tests, review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results and notify donors of unsuitable findings.
- Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, and coordinate donor transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine when further evaluation by occupational health or ER is required.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy training to meet state licensure requirements.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (dependent on qualifications and experience).
