Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is seeking a Full Time – RN to join our team to help drive patient success in our community. We are searching for a passionate Full Time RN to work at our ASC in Chesapeake, VA. This position provides a great work-life balance as you will not have to work any nights or weekends.

- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations requiring immediate medical intervention. Initiates emergency measures as needed. Assist with maintenance of crash cart.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs to provide supportive care before, during and after procedures.
- Directly assist physicians with procedures including handling and maintaining accurate records of medications used and wasted, and accurate handling and labeling of specimens.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment, including cleaning, disinfection, and daily maintenance of equipment.
- Initiate IVs for patient sedation prior to procedures.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician’s orders.
- Participate in patient education pre- and post-procedure.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, documenting all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient response.
- Assist the physician with management of office visits.
- Provide patient education and instruction.
- Communicate with patients as applicable.
- Maintain patient-centered data in a neat and organized manner including chart entries, documentation, or communications to be sent externally.
- Comply with adverse event reporting and patient privacy policies.
- Infusion RN duties include placing IVs, administering IV medications and fluids, monitoring IV medications and tubing, giving injections as ordered, performing phlebotomy as needed, and monitoring patients during infusion and discharge according to policy.
- Registered nurse; membership in local, state, and national societies is encouraged.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification required.
- Solid nursing background with willingness to obtain advanced knowledge in GI specialty.
- Priority setting, judgment, communication skills and tact.
