Description
Summary: The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist II is responsible for delivering high quality patient care through efficient, knowledgeable, and safe performance in assisting physicians with Cardiac Catheterization and related procedures, including electrophysiology and vascular interventions.
Pay or shift range: $40 USD to $52 USD. The estimated salary range is provided in accordance with Virginia Pay Transparency requirements. Final salary offers are calculated based on job‑related factors, including education, experience, location, shift, skills, specialties, and other relevant qualifications or criteria.
Responsibilities- Assist the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any cardiac catheterization, invasive diagnostic or interventional procedure.
- Observe and attend to the needs of each patient while in the care of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Accurately record, note, and file patient information as necessary.
- Provide explanations and instruction to medical personnel observing a procedure to maintain sterility of necessary areas and safety of patients and personnel.
- Assist, as directed by a physician, during any emergency resuscitation procedure.
- Check the function of and prepare equipment for any necessary patient procedures; complete checklists.
- Assist the director in maintaining proper stock of supplies by reporting low levels or defective materials.
- Assist in preparing patients for procedure, including pre‑cat teaching as deemed necessary.
- Assist in providing post‑cat care, including post‑cat teachings and accompanying the patient back to their room.
- Prepare instrument tables by checking all equipment, fluids, medication dosage, concentration, and expiration dates, ensuring instruments are the proper size.
- Be proficient in percutaneous diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Function as a scrub assistant, monitor, and circulator during procedures.
- Process charges.
- Maintain and distribute patient digital records within HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain active ACLS and BLS certification.
- Provide copies of all licenses, registries, and certifications to the Cardiovascular Clinical Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the cardiac invasive laboratory.
- Maintain established department policies, procedures, and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control.
- May be requested to conduct in‑services and meetings.
- Attend required hospital‑wide orientations, meetings, and in‑services.
- Must be available to take monthly after‑hours, weekend, and/or holiday call as required by the department.
- Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
- Accept assignment as a task nurse within the service line if needed.
- Exemplify excellent customer relations toward patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers by showing courtesy, compassion, and respect in accordance with the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting a positive work and customer environment.
- Associate’s degree or higher, completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program to obtain a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry.
- 2+ years Cath Lab experience required; employee should be competent in the position within 90 days of employment.
- Must retain a registry such as RCIS, RCVT, RCES, or a registry‑eligible designation.
- Active ACLS and BLS certification required.
Associate’s degree or higher.
Experience2 years in a Cath Lab.
