American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of travel experience and a VA or compact license in hand.

• Work on 5 West, a Med Surg/Renal/Diabetes telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options available, with overtime after 48 hours on 4x12 schedule
• Requires EOW (every other weekend) coverage
• Floating required
• Holiday coverage required within contract dates
• Requires Epic proficiency with no exceptions

• Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required via American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV starts and telemetry interpretation
• Required charting system experience:
  Epic
• No history of license or background hits will be accepted
• No history of fit test issues, as facility cannot accommodate a PAPR
• Must pass a telemetry/EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher, covering rhythm and interval interpretation with only one attempt allowed

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to patients with renal and diabetic conditions
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and respond to rapid response/code team activations
• Manage respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines
• Provide pre/post cardiac catheterization and post cardiac angiogram care
• Manage pre/post hemodialysis patients and renal failure care
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Located in Chesapeake, Virginia, part of the Coastal Virginia region near Virginia Beach and Norfolk, offering outdoor recreational opportunities
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
• 3 hours of billable modules required to be completed prior to start date
• RTO requests reviewed and approved on a per-case basis
