American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring VA or compact RN license and prior travel experience.

• 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit specializing in post-operative care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
• Also cares for Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits
• Unit monitors up to 8 telemetry patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• Typical patient ratio is 1:7, occasionally flexing from a budgeted 1:5
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
• Must work two of the three winter holidays

• Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
• Minimum of two years of recent relevant experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Must pass EKG/telemetry competency test with a score of 80% or higher, one attempt only with no remediation
• No prior license or background hits accepted
• Cannot accommodate PAPR use; any history of fit test issues disqualifies candidacy

• Provide post-operative nursing care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients as well as trauma and overflow med-surg patients
• Skills such as chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound vac care, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac drip management are valued
• Charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred
• 3 hours of billable orientation modules required, completed prior to start date
• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
• Requested time off must be submitted with the application and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
