DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an RN
- Med/Surg Tele for a post-operative unit caring for ortho, bariatric, and colorectal surgical patients, requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.
- 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit (2E)
- Cares for post-operative ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients, plus Level III trauma and Med-Surg overflow as census allows
- Telemetry monitoring capability for up to 8 patients
- Typical patient ratio of 1:7
- Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
- Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required
- Must work two of the three winter holidays
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission - no exceptions
- BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Minimum of two years recent relevant experience
- Previous travel experience required
- Proficient in Epic EMR - no exceptions
- No history of license or background hits will be accepted
- Must pass EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher, one attempt only, no remediation available
- Cannot accommodate PAPR; any history of fit test issues will eliminate candidacy
- Provide post-operative care for ortho, bariatric, colorectal, and spinal surgery patients, as well as Level III trauma and overflow Med-Surg patients
- Located in Coastal Virginia, minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to hiking trails and waterways
- 3 hours of billable orientation modules required, completed prior to start date
- Charge experience and teaching hospital experience preferred
- RTO requests reviewed and approved on a per-case basis
- Local candidates not considered if permanent address is less than 50 miles from facility
- First-time travelers not considered due to travel experience requirement
