RN – CV Neuro ICU

Alexandria, VA | Acute Care

Contract | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed CV Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and titrate vasoactive drips including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Phenylephrine, Dopamine, and Vasopressin
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips telemetry equipment (no monitor techs on unit)
• Care for patients with complex neurological and critical care diagnoses including stroke, ICH, SAH, ARDS, septic shock, and acute heart failure, among others
• Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including mechanical ventilators, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Must successfully pass an ECG exam on Day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)

• Active RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Availability to work 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year per unit requirements

• Experience caring for neurological and neurosurgical ICU patient populations (stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, increased ICP)
• Familiarity with titratable vasoactive and vasopressor drip management in a critical care setting
• Experience with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Prior experience working alongside clinical techs in a high-acuity ICU environment

• Opportunity to work in a specialized, high-acuity neuro ICU environment with a supportive clinical team including two clinical techs per shift
