Cardio Thoracic ICU RN - 13 Week Assignment Location
Located in the scenic Coastal Virginia region, just minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. The area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring hiking trails suitable for all skill levels and over 20 waterways to explore.
Assignment DetailsSeeking a Cardio Thoracic ICU RN for a 13-week assignment with the possibility of extension.
Candidates will also care for step-down patients due to the use of a universal bed model.
Schedule options include 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts.
Every other weekend, floating, and holiday shifts during the contract are required.
48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours; please specify candidate preference upon submission.
Block scheduling is not available.
Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays.
Patient RatiosTypical patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2.
Minimum Requirements- At least 2 years of experience in a CVICU/CTICU setting; travel experience preferred
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license required at time of submission; no exceptions
- Proficiency in Epic required; no exceptions
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Strong neuro experience (post brain surgery, EVD/ventriculostomy)
- Flo Trac/Vigileo monitoring
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure management
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) care
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and Impella management
- Post cardiac surgery care (both directly from OR and not)
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization and intervention
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- IV insulin protocols
- CVVHD/CRRT management
- CVA/acute stroke management
- Assistance with BiPAP and CPAP management
- Care of ventilated patients
- High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) use
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator management
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions including PPE use
- Management of surgical wounds with drains and wound vac
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
