Analyst I (Microbiology) – Environment Testing, Chesapeake, VA

Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company that specializes in analytical testing services for food, environment, and pharmaceutical products. The Enviro‑Testing division in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Microbiology Analyst to support environmental water testing in compliance with EPA methodology.
Job Responsibilities- Apply GMP/GLP and company Quality Assurance programs and SOPs to all analyses.
- Perform basic microbiological techniques, including media preparation, bacterial test systems (Total Coliform,
E. coli, Total Plate Counts, MPNs, wastewater testing), and routine microbiological enumeration. - Assist in writing, reviewing, and editing reports, protocols, and SOPs.
- Enter data into the LIMS computer system and maintain precise records.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment (incubators, water baths, refrigerators, etc.) and prepare glassware.
- Log samples into the Lab Management System, assign lot numbers, and handle Chain of Custody documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Prepare and ship bottle kits to clients and forward samples to external laboratories as required.
- Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures, perform daily cleaning and organization of the laboratory, and maintain safety and environmental compliance.
- Participate in inventory management of supplies and perform splits and composites.
- Provide on‑call support during non‑business hours for sampling, delivery, and readback of tests.
- Assist with driver duties, vehicle maintenance, and client interactions as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by local management.
- Proficient with computers, word processing, and database software.
- Experience with microbiological laboratory testing procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic mathematical, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, and comply with company policies.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Biological degree preferred; minimum of 4 credit hours of microbiology.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Professional working proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
Compensation range is USD 18 – USD 22 per hour, subject to experience and skill level.
