The UGE Laborer/Groundman is responsible for preparing and cleaning construction sites, loading and unloading building materials, operating equipment, and assisting craft workers with their duties. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.

• Clean and prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and possible hazards.
• Assist the tradesmen in completing their skilled task more effectively.
• Identify utilities and supervise digging to prevent utility hits.
• Clean up and maintain equipment.
• Restock trucks with supplies ensuring crews have the proper tools and supplies to complete the job.

Minimum

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• 1 year of experience.
• CDL Class A driver's license.

This job operates in a field environment. It routinely requires bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting, and exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The position is physically active, with lifting requirements up to 50 pounds, and may require extended periods of standing or working in awkward positions.

Vision at varying distances and color discernment may be required.
