MHE Technician – Distribution Center
Position Summary:
The MHE Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of material handling equipment (MHE) within the distribution center to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. This role supports operational efficiency by maintaining forklifts, conveyors, pallet jacks, and other automated systems in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled preventive maintenance on all MHE, including forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, conveyors, and automated systems.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on equipment.
Conduct inspections to identify potential problems and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and service history in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Collaborate with operations and safety teams to ensure equipment meets OSHA and company safety standards.
Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize operational disruptions.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
Provide training and guidance to operators on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or related field preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in MHE maintenance within a warehouse or distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and hand/power tools.
Familiarity with CMMS software and basic computer skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying conditions (hot, cold, noisy).
Experience with automated conveyor systems and robotics.
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Full-time; may require overtime, weekends, or on-call support depending on operational needs.
