HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on US Naval Vessel alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected Mechanic Assistant candidate will support PM, working closely with our skilled trades teams, on active class surface ships using various processes, mechanical techniques and related tools to remove, install, and upgrade industrial equipment, assisting with alterations and installations for fleet modernization on various contracts.
Weekend and/or overtime hours may be required depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set.
Selected candidates will be required to commute to and maintain access to shipyards and military bases located around the Hampton Roads area depending on contract obligations. Selected candidates may be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around the country and abroad when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided based on location when on travel. Travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

Job Responsibilities

+ Perform routine work technical trades duties, under direction, and in accordance with blueprints and technical manuals, to include support of technical repair, installation, maintenance and modification of equipment and related structures and systems at customer and/or field locations.
+ Perform semi-skilled and unskilled specific or general duties, such as using, supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area, machines, equipment and diverse tasks as directed.
+ Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide array of systems and equipment.
