- Maintain electrical systems including pump stations, streetlights, building systems, and surveillance equipment
- Support electrical needs across other City departments as needed
- Respond to after‑hours emergencies, including bridge malfunctions and weather‑related incidents (on‑call rotation)
- Assist Electrician II in all required duties and be able to perform duties solo in the event that there are multiple location issues or in the absence of the Electrician II
- State of Virginia Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety practices
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code and applicable regulations
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 200 feet, including over water
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within timelines and budget
Vocational / Educational Requirement: High school diploma or GED/HSE and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in electrical systems or a closely related field.
Experience Requirement: Minimum of two years of related, full‑time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards and a current Journeyman Electrician license.
