Job Title:

Commercial Electrician Job Description

This role oversees the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and critical power environments. The Electrician Foreman interprets blueprints and specifications, lays out work for the crew, and leads helpers and electricians in executing projects to code and on schedule. The position requires strong hands‑on skills with conduit and wiring, a solid understanding of electrical codes, and the ability to coordinate work effectively on active construction sites.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute electrical installations.
  • Lay out work for the crew, including material needs, routing of conduit, and placement of equipment to ensure efficient job execution.
  • Lead helpers, mechanics, and journeyman‑level electricians in the completion of electrical projects, providing guidance and direction as needed.
  • Install, rough‑in, and terminate wiring for commercial, industrial, and critical power systems.
  • Perform conduit bending and installation, including EMT and rigid conduit, to meet project and code requirements.
  • Install light fixtures, switches, and related electrical devices according to plans and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical equipment and systems to restore or maintain proper operation.
  • Use appropriate electrical tools and testing equipment to safely and accurately complete work.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal electrical codes and company standards.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with fellow employees and customers to maintain productive and safe work conditions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on the construction site.
  • Perform any other duties or assignments as management deems necessary to support project completion.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, journeyman, or equivalent level electrician in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience running conduit, including EMT and rigid, for various types of installations.
  • Hands‑on experience with wiring, including roughing in wire and installing light fixtures, switches, and related devices.
  • Proficiency in conduit bending using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Solid knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes and their application on job sites.
  • Ability to use electrical tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Experience leading or directing helpers and other electricians on site.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in commercial, industrial, and critical power environments.
  • Ability to understand and follow construction specifications and project requirements.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with coworkers and interact professionally with customers.
