Mobile Diesel Technician II – Cox Fleet, Indianapolis, Indiana. Responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits are outlined below.

DUTIES
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”) and DOT Inspections, with follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment—including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and generate solutions with sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory, reconcile when necessary.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work effectively with clients to assess needs and resolve problems while meeting expectations.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time efficiently.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards; upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders using an iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation.
  • Work independently and manage daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Source parts from approved vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team for approvals and purchase orders.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain service truck with daily safety checks and pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (qualified candidates may have alternative education or more experience).
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications preferred.
  • Complete all company‑required training.
  • Position governed by DOT regulations; must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Valid driver’s qualification file required.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (obtainable within 18 months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
  • ASE 608/609 certification*

  • ASE T4 (Brakes)

  • ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist)
  • ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Understand implications of new information for problem‑solving and decision‑making.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods and perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Perform repetitive tasks over long periods without fatigue.
  • Communicate information succinctly and organize effectively; engage in two‑way communication.
  • Determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Accurately judge distances between objects.
  • Apply logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions.
