Combination Welder​/Fitter; Shop & Field

Northwest Welding Associates, Inc. has been serving Hampton Roads since 1987 and is seeking an experienced Combination Welder/Fitter to join our growing team.

We perform a wide variety of work including structural steel, mechanical piping, industrial fabrication, heavy equipment repairs, marine fabrication, and precision CNC plasma cutting. No two days are the same.

This position includes both fabrication shop work and field welding throughout Hampton Roads.

• Perform high-quality welding using SMAW (Stick) and FCAW (Flux-Core).
• Fit and fabricate structural steel and miscellaneous metal components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Maintain high-quality workmanship while meeting production schedules.
• Operate fabrication equipment and hand tools safely.
• Assist with field welding and on‑site repairs as needed.
• Work independently while also contributing to a team environment.

• Minimum 5 years of welding and fitting experience.
• Proficient with SMAW and FCAW.
• Experience fitting structural steel.
• Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience in both shop and field environments.
• Good understanding of welding procedures and safety practices.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Welding certifications are a plus but not required.
