Field Technician 1

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Field Technician I you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Field Technician I joining our team to ensure MK 41 VLS equipment is maintained and tested to the stringent VLS requirements to maintain National Security.
Responsibilities- Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment.
- Work with the GDIT VLS Team to ensure operational status of contracted VLS work is completed to required procedures and specifications.
- Work with the GDIT VLS Team to identify and correct any deficiencies found.
- Collaborate with the highly trusted GDIT VLS Team to maintain the fleet and program to the highest levels.
- Required Experience/
Education:
0+ years of related experience. - Required Technical
Skills:
Ability to assist in the removal and/or installation of equipment onboard CG/DDG class of USN ships, knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools, and ability to drive a stake truck into shipyard or naval base environments. - Security Clearance Level: Secret. Must have or be able to obtain both a security clearance and a DBIDS/CAC.
- Required
Skills and Abilities:
Solving, communication, Microsoft Word, and Excel, understanding of basic hand/power tools, test equipment and gauge calibration. Heavy lifting is required and prolonged standing on Naval deck plates. - Preferred
Skills:
MK‑41 VLS NEC 0981 is desired but not required. Ability to assist in the removal, overhaul, test, and/or installation of VLS cell hatches, uptake hatches, deluge valves, deluge hoses, Marotta valves, Hy‑Check valves, root and isolation system valves under direction of qualified VLS System Maintenance Technician (SMT) or Test Director (TD) per NAVSEA requirements, Navy MRCs, VLS Authorized Procedures, and Technical Manuals. - Location:
Chesapeake, VA. - Must be able to travel.
- US Citizenship Required. Ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

USA VA Chesapeake - The likely hourly rate for this position is between $22.10 - $29.90. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
