Diving Maintenance Technician / 3M Work Center Supervisor / Maintenance Manager
The Diving Maintenance Technician / 3M Work Center Supervisor / Maintenance Manager is responsible for executing and overseeing maintenance of diving life support systems and associated equipment for LOGSUPPU-2. This role ensures that all preventive and corrective maintenance is conducted in accordance with Navy standards and maintenance programs while maintaining full accountability of equipment and repair parts. The position directly supports Naval Special Warfare mission readiness by ensuring diving systems are safe, operational, and available for training and deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on diving equipment and life support systems
- Maintain and service systems including SCUBA tanks, regulators, compressors, oxygen systems, diagnostic equipment, and associated tools
- Maintain and service Diving Life Support Systems (DLSS) and certified life support equipment
- Schedule and track maintenance within the Preventative Maintenance System (PMS)
- Document completed maintenance actions in accordance with 3M requirements
- Conduct inventory of repair parts, tools, and maintenance supplies
- Identify procurement requirements for maintenance and repair materials
- Conduct spot inventories of diving equipment, including at remote training sites
- Provide support for customer service, issue, and receipt of diving equipment
- Ensure compliance with Naval Operations (OPNAV) Instruction 4790 maintenance standards
- Support safe handling and maintenance of oxygen systems and life support equipment
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- Valid U.S. driver's license
- Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as a certified 5342/MDV1 diver
- Experience as a MK 25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) maintenance technician
- Minimum three (3) years of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) experience
- Strong troubleshooting and maintenance management experience for diving systems
- Must be Navy Dive School certified (NEC 5342 (MDV1 or higher))
- Qualified as a Material Maintenance Management (3M) Maintenance Man
- Qualified as a 3M Quality Assurance Craftsman
- Qualified as a 3M Work Center Supervisor
- Qualified in accordance with NAVEDTRA 43910 (Series)
- Possess factory-trained certification for diving equipment within inventory
- Certified as a Diving Life Support Systems (DLSS) Re-Entry Control (REC) Supervisor
- Certified as an oxygen clean system worker
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Must accurately input and manage data across systems
- Must be able to obtain and maintain installation access
Physical Ability to:
- Ability to perform physically demanding maintenance and inspection tasks
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver diving equipment and components
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and work in confined or water-adjacent environments
- Ability to operate in hazardous or specialized maintenance environments (e.g., oxygen systems)
Travel:
- Must be available to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) in support of maintenance and inventory operations
- Travel required to support remote training site maintenance and inventory checks
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
