Role

HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected Marine Electronics Technician candidate will support PM, working closely with our skilled trades teams, on Naval Vessels, utilizing various tools of the trades, removing, installing and upgrading industrial systems and equipment. Weekend and/or overtime hours required depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set.

Selected candidates will be required to commute to and maintain access to shipyards and military bases located around the Hampton Roads area depending on contract obligations. Selected candidates may be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around the country and abroad when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided based on location when on travel.

Travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

As An HII Marine Electronics Technician, You Will
  • Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement, and performance consistent with company values.
  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures by performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization on US Navy surface ships.
  • Apply knowledge of production processes towards completion of complicated and non-routine tasks related to installations on shipboard systems and related equipment at company, and/or field locations in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
  • Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose systems and equipment to efficiently eliminate problems.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain effective supervisor and manager communications and relations.
  • Remove, plan, execute, install, and modify electrical cables, cableways, conductors, connectors, strain relief, fasteners, and equipment aboard naval vessels.
  • Complete electrical and data conductor disconnections, repairs, installations and reconnections on existing and new equipment for a complete installation.
