Truck Driver (2nd Shift) – Chesapeake, Virginia

Sign‑on bonus: $2,500 upon hire; $1,250 after 90 days, $1,250 after 180 days.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Truck Driver for 2nd Shift in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

• Transport and deliver products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo for transport.
• Conduct pre/post/periodic trip inspections to ensure safety and equipment is in good working order.
• Operate forklift as required.
• Promote a positive customer experience.
• Meet delivery deadlines.
• Work overtime additional hours as needed to meet customer demand.

• CDL A licensure with proven tractor/trailer driving experience.
• Minimum four years driving experience.
• Excellent driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• HAZMAT certification (preferred).
• Proven mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 70 lbs. Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
