Job DescriptionLooking to put your CDL to work in a meaningful way? If you have a Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement and experience driving a 20‑passenger bus, this could be the perfect part‑time opportunity for you. In this role, you’ll do more than just drive — you’ll help connect our community by providing safe, reliable transportation for participants in our Therapeutic and Senior Programs, as well as children and individuals with disabilities.
You may also support transportation needs for City events, activities, and special functions.
If you’re dependable, safety‑focused, and enjoy serving others, we’d love to have you on board.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a van or bus on assigned routes and schedules to transport passengers to and from recreational and social activities, City tours, and special service agencies.
- Maintain accurate records of passenger attendance, behavior, mileage, and vehicle condition.
- Supervise passengers to ensure safe and orderly conduct; assist passengers on and off the vehicle as needed.
- Support program staff with supervision and activities between scheduled travel times.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service in alignment with Department and City standards.
- Complete and submit passenger incident reports and vehicle accident reports as required.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, including exterior washing and interior trash removal and cleaning.
- Inspect vehicles for operational issues, report concerns to the supervisor, and refuel as needed.
- Serve as a courier for pick‑ups and deliveries (mail, equipment, supplies) when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, guardians, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to the satisfactory completion of one year of a college education.
- Minimum of one month of related, full‑time equivalent experience (in addition to the educational standard).
- CDL Class B license with Passenger Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with City’s Driving Standards.
- Ability to work independently and adhere to safety‑first practices.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience operating commercial passenger vehicles and buses.
In accordance with City policy, this position is deemed safety‑sensitive. Applicants are subject to pre‑employment drug/alcohol testing after receiving a conditional offer of employment and may also be subject to random testing. The test includes marijuana. Possession of a medical marijuana card will not excuse an applicant from testing; however, a test will not be considered positive if a valid medical marijuana certification is presented unless the position requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or is a sworn law‑enforcement officer/deputy.
