Senior Tax Accountant
Cheshire, CT, US
Experience: Mid Level
Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 per year
Responsibilities- Tax return preparation and tax planning analysis and projections.
- Overall management of client accounts, including handling routine client questions and working with clients to obtain necessary information for financial and tax return completion.
- Communicate improvement and business growth opportunity ideas regarding clients to management.
- Research IRS and state notices, and represent clients before the IRS and CT Department of Revenue.
- Prepare accurate tax work papers.
- Conduct tax research for all situations.
- Assist other staff with software & support in tax and accounting areas.
- Analyze income statements and balance sheets, communicating findings to management; include journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year‑end clients, bank and General Ledger reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance.
- Supervise the annual closing process, including assisting personnel with maintaining accurate information by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Build organization finance and accounting infrastructure and internal controls.
- Conduct specific client internal control audits.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 3–8 years of previous tax work‑related experience.
- CPA earned or in progress.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Quick Books.
- Drake software experience is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets.
- Perform complex financial analysis.
