General DescriptionThe Admissions Assistant is responsible for completing tasks related to the patient admission process. The Admissions Assistant will assess the environment for room readiness for each admission by effectively maintaining an interdisciplinary approach and ensuring that any problems are reported timely to the appropriate department head. They will conduct patient interviews by completing the necessary Admission Agreements, explaining the services provided and relaying the financial responsibilities related to the admission.
Essential Job Functions- Greets and welcomes incoming patients/residents in a timely manner and ensures that the patients are comfortable, and needs are met.
- Discusses with patients and family members the services Elim Park offers and answers any questions and requests they may have.
- Executes the Admission Agreement explaining all sections and responding to inquiries from the patient/family member.
- Completes all new patient sign-ins of admission and uploads all signed paperwork into Point Click Care .
- Assembles sign in packets and maintains supply of sign in forms, as well as replenish marketing supplies.
- Verifies primary and secondary insurance benefits and existing Title XIX and Medicaid benefits.
- Obtains pre-authorization, as necessary for insurances.
- Responds to admission inquiries via hospital, referral source, telephone, or walk in and provides pertinent information.
- Maintains Inquiry List and Active Wait List as per guidelines.
- Prepares reports as directed by Admissions Director.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints courteously and professionally, determine nature of the issue, and handle by referring to appropriate department.
- Acts as liaison between the Post-Acute Patient/family and other Elim Park departments as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of all resident information to ensure protection of personal matters.
- Performs any other job-related duties and responsibilities.
- Director/Administrator on areas requiring attention.
- Act as the key liaison and provide coverage as needed in the absence of the Admissions Director.
- Demonstrates neatness, accuracy and dependability.

- Attends required in-services
- Ability to communicate with patients, families and staff courteously and professionally.
- Able to complete Admission Agreement Sign-Ins in a timely manner.
- Ability to act as liaison between Nursing Supervisor and Admissions/Marketing Coordinators.
- Relates well with residents in a friendly, tactful, pleasant and confidential manner which is responsive to the resident and/or family needs, requests, etc.
- Work in well lighted reception area, designated office space.
- Numerous visits to the East and West Wings will be necessary in order to complete patient sign in packets.
- Subject to frequent interruptions
- Minimum two years public relations and administrative experience.
- Strong phone and computer skills (Internet, MS Outlook, MS Office Suite).
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner and possess a pleasant speaking voice.
- Genuine concern for the elderly and dealing with their needs.
- Able to multitask.
