Overview

The Assistant Camp Director plays a vital role in supporting the overall management and operation of the camp program. This position involves assisting with program planning, supervising staff and campers, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and fostering a positive environment that promotes learning, growth, and fun. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students, a background in education administration, and strong leadership skills to help deliver an engaging and well-organized camp experience.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Camp Director in planning and executing daily camp activities and special events
  • Supervise and mentor camp staff, ensuring adherence to policies and safety standards
  • Assist in managing camper behavior to promote a respectful and inclusive environment
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth operation of camp programs
  • Facilitate communication between staff, campers, and parents or guardians as needed
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping, scheduling, and reporting
  • Contribute to creating a positive atmosphere that encourages teamwork, creativity, and personal development
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and emergency procedures
Qualifications
  • Higher education teaching experience or background in education administration preferred
  • Prior experience working with students or youth programs is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff and manage groups effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with university programs or similar educational settings is a plus
  • Passion for youth development, education, and outdoor recreation
