Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 a year –Permanent, Graduate, Full-time
Shift and schedule: 40 hours a week (8:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday)
Start Date: Feb/March 2026
Holidays: 25 days, plus Public Holidays.

Job DescriptionWe seek a recent graduate engineer to help expand our existing design team of four structural/mechanical engineers and four designers. The role will primarily consist of conducting strength‑of‑material calculations for the design of steel masts and their supporting foundations, including frequency, fatigue and connections calculations. At Hutchinson you will work alongside experienced engineers and see projects through from concept to creation.
Structured training and mentorship will be provided to assist in achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of using their own initiative. If you are motivated to work in a technical environment, if you are rigorous, organised and willing to work efficiently in a friendly atmosphere, you are the person we need.
What we’re looking for- A degree (BEng, MSc + BEng or MEng) in either Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Affinity to a relevant institution (ICE, IMechE or IStruct
E) and a desire to work towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status. - Comfortable in undertaking hand calculations and using analysis and design software. Experience with STAAD, Master Series, IDEA Stati Ca or Solid Works is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
- If not a British resident, the candidate must already hold a valid United Kingdom work permit.
