Test Equipment Technician; Onsite

Position: Test Technician – Collins Aerospace, Cheshire, CT

As a Test Technician you will design, fabricate, and document cutting‑edge test equipment to support both commercial and military flight hardware. Your role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating complex electrical and mechanical test systems, while providing technical support and training to the engineering and operations teams. You will also lead projects that enhance existing test equipment and ensure compliance with EH&S and manufacturer standards.

• Design, fabricate, and document new test equipment for production and engineering evaluation.
• Support test engineering projects, including upgrading existing test equipment.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical test equipment.
• Reverse engineer and document existing cables and equipment.
• Order and replace equipment parts as needed.
• Read electrical schematics and wire to J-Std 001 requirements.
• Follow calibration procedures for troubleshooting systems.
• Report weekly status updates to higher management.
• Provide technical support to engineers and operations personnel.
• Ensure compliance with EH&S regulations.
• Train other technicians plant-wide as required.
• Develop calibration procedures for record keeping and troubleshooting.

• Advanced test equipment design, fabrication, and performance optimization.
• Complex troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems under pressure.
• Electro‑mechanical integration of circuit boards and cables into test stations.
• Project management and weekly reporting to senior management.
• Compliance with EH&S standards and workplace safety protocols.

• AA/AS degree (or other 2-yr post‑high‑school training) with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. Person status (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible for necessary export authorizations.
• Preferred: Electrical Engineering 2‑yr degree with experience in electromechanical or gyroscope assembly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with final acceptance test equipment such as multi‑axis rate tables, vibration heads, and environmental stress systems.
• ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
• Related mechanical/electrical process engineering experience.
• Familiarity with RCCA tools such as Six Sigma and ACEA.
• Strong multitasking mentality.

Annual range: $66,800 – $127,200 USD.
