Police Emergency Dispatcher
The Town of Cheshire is accepting applications for the Police Emergency Dispatcher position. This role works alongside the department’s Patrol Division to ensure and protect the safety and welfare of Cheshire residents and visitors, maintaining and enhancing the quality of life.
Police Emergency Dispatchers provide telecommunicator services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Successful applicants should be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Competitive salary and benefits package including paid sick time, paid holidays, paid vacation, a 5/2–5/3 schedule, enrollment in the Town’s 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan, shift differential for evenings and night shift, longevity payment, and tuition reimbursement for approved subject areas.
Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain COLLECT certification and a State of Connecticut Telecommunicator Certification.
Following the application submission, applicants may be asked to participate in an Oral Panel Examination. The process may also require, upon request, a written examination, and a rigorous background investigation inclusive of criminal history check with fingerprint submission through FBI, a psychological examination, medical examination with drug screening, a financial review with credit check, and a Chief’s interview.
Rate:$56,579 per year upon appointment, with annual step increases on the anniversary of hire.
