Laboratory Technician (Open) – R
Location:
Cheshire, CT (Plant) – Filling industrial.
Shift Time: 1st Shift (5am-1:30pm), Monday‑Friday.
Pay Range: $27–30 per hour.
Responsibilities- Provide analytical and technical support for the production and certification of gas cylinders.
- Certify candidate gas standards in compliance with customer requirements, regulatory regulations, and Airgas SOPs.
- Perform cylinder analyses and support alignment and compliance with NIST, FDA, EPA, ISO, DOT, and SMS objectives.
- Produce mixtures to meet required production tolerances and document analytical results.
- Make flammable/oxidizer calculations to ensure mixtures are safely made.
- Select cylinders and valve combinations to ensure compatibility and regulatory compliance.
- Analyze gas mixtures for composition and compliance with production and analytical tolerances, resolving discrepancies.
- Analyze samples of pure gases to determine impurity levels and compare with Airgas specifications to adjust as needed.
- Calculate and document analytical results.
- Operate control panels, valves, pressure gauges, and scales for accurate component measurement.
- Blend a full range of components including flammable gases, corrosive materials, toxic materials, and liquefiable components.
- Provide excellent service to customers, ensuring special product requests are fulfilled.
- Provide technical support to the production lab by validating standards and performing intermediate analyses.
- Complete necessary documentation for all production actions.
- Support safety standards in the production of cylinder gases, including participation in internal audits.
- Comply with company guidelines and regulations for safe handling of hazardous materials and gases.
- Maintain a positive work environment through collaboration in laboratory meetings and team activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of related technical experience (or equivalent education and experience).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use metrics to improve production efficiency.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse people.
- Ability to read material safety data sheets.
- Flexibility to work a flexible schedule.
- Proficiency with basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratios, and percent.
- Self‑starter, well organized, able to work independently and under pressure.
- Detail oriented for accurate compliance documentation.
- Dedication to product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
- Ability to move/transport materials up to 60 lb and up to 125 lb with equipment as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field.
- Prior experience with compressed/welding gases, gas analysis, and gas lab equipment.
- Prior experience utilizing SAP.
