Location:

Cheshire, CT (Plant) - Filling industrial

Shift and Pay
  • Shift Time: 2nd Shift (10am-6:30pm), Monday-Friday
  • Pay Rate: $22/hr

Responsibilities
  • Inspects cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures that ensure government, Airgas, and distributor safety benchmarks are met.
  • Maintains awareness of safety protocols for various gases; identifies size and contents of cylinders by carefully reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color‑coding of tanks.
  • Committed to all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of materials and cylinder gases.
  • Confidently manages a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment to support site operations.
  • Carefully loads cylinders on/off vehicles, using a hand truck or chain hoist, and maintains accurate records of the type and quantity of cylinders.
  • Ensures the secure loading/unloading of cylinders on/off pallets, confirming they are safely strapped in.
  • Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, dents, cracks, or burns; takes initiative in performing minor maintenance of equipment and detailed inspection of cylinders prior to filling.
  • Moves cylinders to designated work areas using appropriate, safe work methods or equipment.
  • Identifies and segregates out‑of‑test or defective cylinders to maintain high quality standards.
  • Prepares cylinders for reuse by removing old labels and ensuring they are clean.
  • Contributes to other team needs as assigned to ensure a supportive work environment.
Required Qualifications
  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.
  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures applicable to this position’s responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
